Kitty is a versatile and experienced teacher of both classical and folk music. She has been an inspiration to students of all ages, from the small babies who attended her pre-school music sessions to grandparents - now rediscovering a love of music-making in their retirement. For five years she ran the Childrens' Traditional Music Band in Newtown (several former members are now playing professionally on the folk circuit) and Ffonic was born directly from this project. Parents of the young musicians saw how much fun they were having and asked Kitty to form a new band for the grown-ups!
Kitty has studied fiddle with many top performers in the folk world, including Chris Wood and Martin Hayes. She has a degree in music from the University of Leeds and a performance diploma from the London College. She has taught fiddle at Sidmouth International Festival, Shrewsbury Folk Festival and at TASC events in Mid-Wales. She has played with numerous dance bands including 'Kitty and the Tomcats' and the 'Klezmonauts'. Kitty currently performs with HiJinx.
Kitty lives in Telford, Shropshire and is available for one-to one or group lessons in piano, violin, concertina, melodeon, and penny whistle, or to help unravel the mysteries of music theory.
